The Two Noble Kinsmen is based on A Knights Tale from Geoffrey Chaucers The Canterbury Tales (which I have not read). In the Prologue of The Scholars believe that William Shakespeare probably wrote The Two Noble Kinsmen with the playwright John Fletcher, who was Shakespeare’s successor as the in-house playwright of the King’s Men, which was first published in /5.

The Two Noble Kinsmen is a book written by William Shakespeare. It is widely considered to be one of the top greatest books of all time. This great novel will surely attract a /5(9). The two noble kinsmen find their loyalty rewarded with imprisonment when they end up on the losing side of a battle with the great hero, Theseus of Athens.

From the window of their jail they observe Emilia, the sister-in-law of their conqueror, whose stunning beauty shatters their vow of eternal brotherhood.1/5(1). Overview Based on Chaucer's Knight's Tale, The Two Noble Kinsmen was written at the end of Shakespeare's career, as a collaboration with the rising young dramatist John Fletcher.

Neglected until recently by directors and teachers, the play deserves to be better known for its moving dramatization of the conflict of love and friendship/5(2). Chaucer’s tale comes from an Italian poem by Boccaccio. Thus in The Two Noble Kinsmen we have a late medieval narrative transformed into a seventeenth-century play.

Initially, the Theban knights Arcite and Palamon are devoted kinsmen, both serving their king, Creaon, who is defeated by Theseus, Duke of Athens.4/4(5). The Two Noble Kinsmen is a Jacobean tragicomedy, first published in and attributed to John Fletcher and William Shakespeare.

Its plot derives from " The Knight's Tale " in Geoffrey Chaucer 's The Canterbury Tales, which had already been dramatised at least twice before.

The Two Noble Kinsmen follows Chaucer's story closely, retaining many of the principal characters and much of the plot. Shakespeare also drew upon the following sources: Il Teseida, by Boccaccio (); Greek mythology, including the account of Creon's refusal to allow Antigone, daughter of Oedipus, to bury her brother Polynices.

Written by Shakespeare and John Fletcher, The Two Noble Kinsmen tells the familiar story of a love triangle. Here, though, it seems distant and strange. The play is based on “The Knight’s Tale” in Chaucer’s Canterbury r’s tale comes from an Italian poem by Boccaccio.

The Two Noble Kinsmen was only partially written by Shakespeare. The primary author was John Fletcher, and Shakespeare seems to have been doing a rewrite more than a collaboration. As a result, you get two different styles of narration and development in the same story/5(5).

An interesting collection. Had the publishers decided to add Winter's Tale and The Tempest, this would have been the perfect collection of Shakespeare's for the stories in this compilation: they are good.
